Blood Watch is a statewide transfusion medicine improvement program of the NSW Clinical Excellence Commission. Its primary goal is to improve the safety and quality of fresh blood product transfusion in all NSW Public Hospitals.
The Blood Watch program focuses on the appropriateness of blood component therapy; reporting of adverse transfusion related events; clinical governance issues; accurate costing of transfusion medicine; ongoing education of health care professionals; and communication of policy to address supply and demand issues. |

| The National Blood Authority (NBA) is an Australian Government statutory agency, established under the National Blood Authority Act 2003 to improve and enhance the management of the Australian blood and plasma product sector at a national level. The NBA represents the interests of all Australian governments, and sits within the Australian Government’s Health and Ageing portfolio.

Australian Red Cross Blood Service (ARCBS) is a division of the Red Cross, established as a national organisation in 1996, but its antecedents date to 1929 through various State and Territory Red Cross Transfusion Services. Since 2005-06, Australian Red Cross Blood Service has been fully funded jointly by the governments of Australia, with the Australian Government contributing 63% of funding and the remaining eight State/Territory governments contributing the remaining 37% on a proportional basis.
